Trip Overview

The Pikey Peak Trek is a newly opened route in the Solukhumbu Region, offering stunning Himalayan panoramas and a unique cultural experience. Located south of Everest, Pikey Peak (4,065m) is one of the highest hills in Solu, known for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. From the summit, trekkers can witness an unparalleled vista of the Everest Himalayan Range, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Numbur Chuli.

The name Pikey originates from a Sherpa clan deity, and the region is rich in Sherpa and Rai culture, with monasteries, stupas, and traditional villages along the trail. Sir Edmund Hillary once praised the view from Pikey Peak as one of the most spectacular in the Solukhumbu region.

The trek is a perfect blend of nature and culture, passing through rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and yak pastures. It is an excellent alternative for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience with fewer crowds compared to the classic Everest Base Camp trek. Additionally, Pikey Peak is easily accessible from Kathmandu, making it an ideal short trek for those looking to experience the beauty of the Everest region without long itineraries.
