Trip Overview

Langtang, Gosainkunda & Helambu Trek is a spectacular journey that blends breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, rich Tamang culture, and sacred high-altitude lakes. This 18-day adventure takes you deep into the Langtang Valley, known for its pristine beauty and warm hospitality, before leading you to the revered Gosainkunda Lake, a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists.

Starting in Kathmandu, the trek begins with a scenic drive to Khangjim and gradually ascends through dense forests, charming villages, and glacial valleys. As you trek through Lama Hotel, Thyangsyap, and Kyanjin Gompa, you’ll be surrounded by the towering peaks of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Gangchempo. A day of acclimatization at Kyanjin Gompa allows for exploration of the Langtang Glacier or Tserko Ri for panoramic mountain views.

Descending back through lush forests and Tamang settlements, the trail then climbs towards Gosainkunda Lake (4,380m), a stunning alpine lake believed to be created by Lord Shiva. After a rest day at the sacred lake, the trek continues over the Lauribina Pass (4,610m) before descending through picturesque villages like Thadepati, Kutumsang, and Chisapani. The journey ends at Sundarijal, where you’ll drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest or explore the bustling streets of Thamel. In the evening, there will be a briefing about the trek.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Trek Preparation

After breakfast, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the afternoon, finalize any necessary trek preparations.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Khangjim (2,235m) – 7-8 hours

We start early and drive to Khangjim via Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang region. The drive offers scenic views of terraced fields, villages, and mountains.

Day 04: Trek from Khangjim to Lama Hotel (2,470m) – 5-6 hours

The trek descends and ascends through lush forests, following the Langtang River. Passing through villages like Sherpagaon and Rimche, we arrive at Lama Hotel, a small settlement surrounded by rhododendron and bamboo forests.

Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Thyangsyap Village (3,140m) – 5-6 hours

We continue ascending along the river, passing dense forests and reaching Ghodatabela. With the first close-up views of Langtang Lirung, we proceed to Thyangsyap Village.

Day 06: Trek from Thyangsyap Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m) – 4-5 hours

The trail enters a wide glacial valley, passing Langtang Village before reaching Kyanjin Gompa, the spiritual and cultural center of the Langtang Valley. You can explore the monastery and enjoy panoramic views.

Day 07: Acclimatization & Exploration in Kyanjin Gompa

A day to acclimatize and explore the upper valley. Options include a hike to Tserko Ri (4,985m) for breathtaking sunrise views over the Himalayas or a visit to the Langtang Glacier.

Day 08: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel – 6-7 hours

We retrace our steps, descending through forests and villages back to Lama Hotel.

Day 09: Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,250m) – 5-6 hours

Descending to the river and climbing through pine and juniper forests, we reach the Tamang village of Thulo Syabru, known for its cultural richness.

Day 10: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa (3,330m) – 5-6 hours

We ascend through lush forests to Shin Gompa, home to a Buddhist monastery and a famous local cheese factory.

Day 11: Trek from Shin Gompa to Gosainkunda (4,380m) – 5-6 hours

The trail climbs gradually, offering stunning views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Reaching the sacred Gosainkunda Lake, we find an area revered by Hindus and Buddhists.

Day 12: Rest & Exploration at Gosainkunda

A day to explore the sacred lakes surrounding Gosainkunda, with time for reflection and photography.

Day 13: Trek from Gosainkunda to Thadepati (3,690m) via Lauribina Pass (4,610m) – 6-7 hours

A challenging day crossing the Lauribina Pass, rewarded with breathtaking Himalayan vistas before descending to Thadepati.

Day 14: Trek from Thadepati to Kutumsang (2,470m) – 5-6 hours

A gradual descent through rhododendron and oak forests leads to the Tamang village of Kutumsang.

Day 15: Trek from Kutumsang to Chisapani (2,165m) – 5-6 hours

The trail follows ridges and forests before reaching Chisapani, known for its sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas.

Day 16: Trek from Chisapani to Sundarijal & Drive to Kathmandu – 4-5 hours trek, 1-hour drive

A final descent through Shivapuri National Park leads to Sundarijal, where we take a short drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 17: Rest & Relaxation in Kathmandu

A free day to explore Kathmandu, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax. In the evening, a farewell dinner is arranged.

Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu

Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
