This is a relatively short trek but one that really puts you into the remote and wild Himalayan wilderness. However crossing the Tashi Labsta can be a serious affair depending on conditions. This area was extensively explored with many of the peaks being climbed by Sir Ed Hillary during the early Everest exploration years. This valley supplied many of the high altitude guides that work on Everest today. Once at the head of the valley the untrained eye will be confused as to the route out, however hidden away round to the northern side is an exposed route onto the upper valley floor that eventually leads up a big snow field to the Pass crossing. The upper valley provides some wild camping with spectacular views.
