Mustang is such a remarkable region of Nepal with a landscape more attuned to the Tibetan Plateau than the lush lower region of the Annapurna Range. Over the last few years Mustang has undergone a remarkable transformation, from being a Kingdom with its own Monarchy to a Nepal State undergoing rapid and to a certain extent un-monitored development.
To visit the remarkable cave dwellings only recently discovered, to traversing the eastern and very remote side of the Kali Gandaki River is a trip that certainly needs to be accomplished before it is too late.
The real Mustang experience starts in Lo Manthang and by undertaking this trek participants will be able to avoid all of those areas being developed and get to the real heart of the matter. The lodges on the return leg although they are ‘local’ standard they are clean and provide good food and of course give access to some stunning and some of the more unusual mountains in Nepal.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport 1345m you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel by private tourist vehicle. Overnight at Dwakia’s Hotel, inclusive B & B.
Day 02: A morning of guided sightseeing followed by lunch and then a trek briefing after which there will be time for last minute purchases and packing before your complimentary Welcome Dinner, a meal of Nepali cuisine and cultural dance. B & B.
Day 03: Transfer to Pokhara by air.
Day 04: Transfer to Jomsom.
Day 05: Drive to Ghami Village.
Day 06: Drive to Lo Manthang.
Day 07: A day in Manthang.
Day 08: There is the opportunity to spend a second day in Lo or you can start your trek back to Kagbeni. Today’s trek 7 hours.
Day 09: Trek to Tangge 7 hours.
Day 10: Rest and acclimatisation day.
Day 11: Trek to Chhuksang 9 hours.
Day 11: Chhkusang to Jomsom.
Day 12: Fly Jomsom to Pokhara.
