Overview

Makalu is Nepal’s fourth highest 800m peak situated even today in a very remote part of eastern Nepal. This high altitude trek takes in the crossing of the three highest trekable Cols in Nepal which all cross the 6000m contour, trekkers will require basic mountaineering skills including the use of the rope, crampons and ice-axe. A remarkable expedition into the very heart of the mighty Himalaya!

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: A full day guided sightseeing inside the Kathmandu valley.

Day 03: Kathmandu fly toTumlingtar - Khadbari - 1,040 m - 4-hrs walk.

Day 04: Khadbari trek to Chichila – 1,830 m - 5/6 hrs walk.

Day 05: Chichila trek to Num – 1,490 m - 5 hrs walk.

Day 06: Num trek to Sedua – 1,460 m - 5/6 hrs walk.

Day 07: Sedua trek to Tashigaon – 2,070 m - 5 hrs walk.

Day 08: Tashi gaon trek Kauma – 3,470 m - 6 hrs walk.

Day 09: Kauma a rest and acclimatisation day.

Day 10: Kauma trek to Mumbuk – 3,570 m - 5 hrs walk.

Day 11: Mumbuk trek to Nhe Kharka camp site – 3,000 m - 6 hrs walk.

Day 12: Nhe kharka trek to Sherson – 4,615 m - 7 hrs walk.

Day 13: Sherson trek to Makalu base camp 5,000 m - 4/5 hrs walk.

Day 14: Explore Makalu base camp 5,000 m.

Day 15: Trek to Hillary base camp 4870 m 5,150 m.

Day 16: Trek to Sherpani Col Base Camp 5,688 m. 

Day 17: Rest/extra day at High Camp.

Day 18: Trek to Sherpani Col 6,146 m and onto Baruntse Base Camp 6,050 m.

Day 19: Trek to West Col 6,143 m.

Day 20: Trek to Panche Pokhari 5,484 m.

Day 21: Trek to Panche Pokhari, Amphu Lapcha crossing and descend.

Day 22: Ttrek to Chukkung - 4,730m - 6 hrs.

Day 23: Trek to Dengboche - 4,380m - 5 hrs.

Day 24: Trek to Tengboche -3,860m - 4 hrs.

Day 25: Trek to Namche Bazar 3,440 - 4 hrs.

Day 26: Leisure day.

Day 27: Trek to Lukla 2,840m – 6 hrs.

Day 28: Fly to Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel and then relax!

Day 29: Free day in Kathmandu shopping. Farewell dinner.
